Bridging the Digital Divide

Project overview

Ubuntu Pledge collaborated with the Lancaster West Neighbourhood Team to deliver an eight-week digital inclusion programme within Lancaster West Estate and the wider North Kensington community. The initiative targeted 10 participants, comprising three families and two individuals, to address digital literacy, online safety and family communication. Parents and children built confidence, safer online habits and stronger relationships through shared learning.

What we did

  • Designed a family-centred, holistic programme combining one-to-one mentorship, group workshops and interactive activities for adults and young people.
  • Digital coaching for parents covered basic computer use, email, online safety and understanding social media.
  • Children received online safety mentorship on cyberbullying, privacy, responsible social media behaviour and critical thinking.
  • Joint family sessions explored digital tools, communication and online boundaries.
  • Delivered more than 50 hours of tailored coaching and mentorship over eight weeks.

Results

14 total participants engaged, comprising three families and two individuals.

100% of parents reported increased confidence using digital tools.

80% of children demonstrated improved online safety awareness.

65% increase in family engagement with technology and digital discussions.

All families reported feeling more connected and confident navigating online platforms together.
