Westminster
Online Safety Accelerator
After our successful digital accelerator, we launched a two-week Online Safety Accelerator to meet high demand, equipping participants to navigate the digital world securely.

Project overview
Following the broader digital inclusion programme, online safety emerged as a highly sought-after skill in Westminster’s underserved communities. Residents wanted more in-depth knowledge to manage online interactions confidently. Ubuntu Pledge delivered a focused two-week, in-person accelerator with practical basic to medium-level online safety training.
What we did
- Delivered an intensive, practical programme addressing common concerns and building everyday digital defences.
- Online scams and phishing: identifying scams, phishing emails and fraudulent websites.
- Data privacy: understanding personal data, privacy settings and how information is shared.
- Secure online habits: strong passwords, two-factor authentication, safe browsing and recognising suspicious links or downloads.
- Responsible social media use: safe interactions, privacy implications of posts and online reputation.
Results
Eight residents completed the programme.
Increased confidence managing personal data and privacy settings online.
Improved secure browsing and password management practices.
Strong community engagement and positive feedback on content and facilitation.
